Hermosa Tours is a growing cycling company based in Durango, Colorado. We offer Expert Guided Cycling vacations, Fantasy Training Camps, and personalized private coaching programs. Hermosa’s staff has 15+ Leadville finishes under our collective belts, as well as many years of providing crew support. In celebration of our love affair with the greatest epic mountain bike race in the nation, we’ve established an incredible “Base Camp” program for race weekend that includes lodging and much more.

Whether you are a first time Leadville entrant, or a multi-year veteran looking to break through for an all-time personal best, our Leadville 100 Base Camp will get you to the starting line relaxed and focused. And, just as important, it will help your crew have the time of their lives.
Our Base Camp will be the Mountain Hideaway Bed & Breakfast right in the heart of Leadville at 8th and Pine Street. Accommodations range from $119 per night for a cozy room with a King bed for two, to a multi-room Suite with beds for up to seven at $299 per night. All rooms include private baths. The Mountain Hideaway has been our preferred venue for years. It’s a warm, home-like environment. In addition to your private room, there are secure indoor areas where you can prep and store your bike. There is a large living room and adjacent open kitchen with plenty of space to prepare special meals, water bottles, etc. Innkeepers Peri and Ed are fantastic hosts and know how to cater to racers. And you’ll get to enjoy the company of other Base Campers from around the country. The best part…Mountain Hideaway is literally two blocks from the starting line on race morning and only a few blocks walk to the riders meeting and everything Leadville has to offer. No worries, no hassles. Ride and relax!
Your package includes full dinner on Thursday and Friday nights, and breakfast on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings. A wide array of race-appropriate dishes will be offered. If you have special dietary needs or preferences, let us know in advance and we will accommodate you.
Yes, the race organization offers a free pasta feed on Friday night before the race. And we love the spirit and camaraderie of that event. We’ve also found that some racers will prefer to relax with their feet up back at the house and have a private meal prepared for them. If you wish to partake of the big race pasta party, some of our staff will join you and we will issue you a credit on your bill. If not, relax at the house while we wait on you!
Saturday night’s post-race dinner is not included in our pricing as many racers may want to do something special with their friends and crew. But if you are in the mood to celebrate with other base campers and our staff, we welcome you to join us at the best brewpub / steakhouse in Leadville where we have reserved a large table to celebrate everyone’s race achievements.
And, the Sunday “morning-after” pre-awards ceremony breakfast is legendary. You won’t want to miss it.
Handling crew duties can be daunting for your family and friends, especially for first-timers. Well good news. We’ve got you covered here too. Bring your friends and loved ones. We’ll use our custom 15-passenger cycling van and support cars to make sure that everyone gets to the proper aid stations (and back to the finish line) at the proper times to cheer you on and provide you with the nutritional and mechanical support you need. Having learned the hard way through years of painful trial and error, we now have our system completely dialed. We know the pacing and time gaps, the nutritional pitfalls, and everything else to help your crew help you.
You’ll have your own food and drink preferences selected by race day (we’ll help you figure that out too). If Hammer Nutrition products are part of your plan, we’ll provide you with unlimited Hammer fueling and recovery mixes.
We create a party atmosphere at our aid stations, and your support crew can jump on our bandwagon. You’ll have NASCAR-style pit support and your family and friends will have the day of their lives. Believe us, a happy crew is a huge key to a successful race.
As part of Hermosa Tours’ Base Camp program, you’ll benefit from our years of experience with the nitty gritty specifics of the race. Guidance on training plans, nutrition, bike and gear selection, pacing for goal times…everything that you’ll be sweating between now and August. And, not just on race weekend, but the entire time between when you book with us, and the big day. You’ll be added to our private email group list with daily postings, and you will have email access to our licensed coaches for personal questions.

For very reasonable additional charges, we can help you with all your travel and logistics needs. Depending on where you are coming from, getting yourself, your crew, and your bike and gear up to Leadville takes some planning. Here is how we can help:
- Bike shipping and receiving: Ship your bike to us in advance so that you don’t have to take it on the plane. For no charge, we will take receipt of your boxed bike and have it waiting for you in Leadville. We will do the same after the race, taking it off your hands and arranging for it to be shipped from an authorized UPS shipping center (you pay shipping fees). For a small fee, our professional mechanic will build the bike pre-race and/or break it down post race to ease your hassle. This will allow you to rest and relax prior to the event, and then focus on celebrating and soaking it all in afterwards, instead of wrenching.
- Airport transfers: Our shuttle driver will greet you at Denver International, Eagle/Vail, or other local and regional airports and drive you straight to Base Camp. Once in Leadville, there is really no need for a car. If you do find the urge to swing by the grocery store, we’ll be happy to take you. On the way out of town, we’ll get you back in time for your flight. Put your feet up and let us do the driving!
- Post-Race Vacations or Fun Rides: If you are traveling a long distance to get to Leadville, you may want to take advantage of the Colorado Summer and linger a while. Perhaps you and your crew want to continue on with a week’s vacation of singletrack joyriding. Colorado singletrack tours are our specialty, and if you can dream it, we can do it. After a great week of riding, we love to celebrate the end of the trip with a group dinner in town.
